Privacy Policy

My Homeschool Binder (“the app”) is made by Socrates-One LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built the app to work offline and on-device by default, and we designed it to collect as little personal information as possible.

1. Who this app is for

My Homeschool Binder is a tool for organizing homeschool materials. Accounts are intended to be created and managed by a parent, guardian, or teacher, an adult, not by a child. Children may use the app under adult supervision, but any account, cloud backup, or account deletion is controlled by the responsible adult.

2. Information we collect

We only collect the following, and only when you choose to use the related feature:

• Account information (optional). If a parent creates an account, we collect an email address and password to authenticate that account. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.
• Your content and cloud backups (optional). If you turn on cloud backup, the binders, files, worksheets, and annotations you create are uploaded to your private, account-linked storage (Google Firebase Storage) so you can restore or sync them. This content may include worksheet material and anything you or your child writes into it.
• Camera images (on-device). The app can use your device camera to scan physical worksheets into your binders. Scanned images are stored in your binders on your device. They are only uploaded if you have enabled cloud backup, and then only into your own private storage.

What we do not collect:

• No advertising identifiers, and no advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
• No location tracking, contacts, or microphone access.
• No third-party analytics that profile you or your child across apps or sites.

3. How we use information

• To provide the account, cloud backup, and restore features you choose to use.
• To authenticate you and keep your backed-up content associated with your account.
• To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not use your content to train models, build advertising profiles, or for any purpose unrelated to operating the app.

4. Children’s privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Because this app is used in a homeschool context, we take children’s privacy seriously and design for it:

• Accounts are created by adults; we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
• Any content a child creates stays on the device unless a parent enables cloud backup, in which case it is stored only in that parent’s private account storage.
• A parent or guardian may review, export, or delete their child’s content at any time (see Data retention and deletion).
• We do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate parental consent, contact us at support@myhomeschoolbinder.com and we will delete it.

5. How information is stored and shared

Account and backup data are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Storage), which acts as our service provider (sub-processor). Data may be processed on Google’s infrastructure. We do not share your personal information with any other third parties except:

• Service providers that operate the app’s infrastructure (Google Firebase), under their terms;
• If required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Data retention and deletion

On-device content stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. For cloud data:

• Delete in the app: open Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and its cloud backup.
• Request deletion without the app: see our Account & Data Deletion page, or email support@myhomeschoolbinder.com from your account email.

We retain account and backup data only while your account exists. After deletion, cloud data is removed from active systems, and residual copies in backups are purged within 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights in the app or by emailing us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures provided by our infrastructure providers, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls that keep your cloud backups tied to your authenticated account. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. International users

If you use the app outside the country where our providers’ servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries, including the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
